Permanently disable ( Permanantly Clear ) recent File history In Windows XP

This setting allows you to permanently disable recent File history In your start menu .... That is a good tweak to protect your privacy from viewing what you viewed and played in media player etc .... Then no one will be able to see what your last recent activities are .......


1 . To open the registry editor ,

Start --> Run --> “regedit” (type) --> Ok






2 . Then find the key bellow In registry Editor





HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer


3 . Then Create a DWORD value called “NoRecentDocsHistory” As shown above ( right click --> New --> DWORD Value)

4. Double click  on newly created value .... Then you'll see a dialogue box like below .. change it's value data to 1 as shown below ..... then click OK ..... ( if you put 0 instead of 1 to the value data , again it will start to track and record recent file history )




 Now you're Done ..... You will never see recent file history In start menu ( It will be shown as empty always ) .... That is very Important to keep privacy .....  Please restart your computer to take effect the changes we made.... Final Result is shown below ....

Registry mechanic

Editing your computer registry may useful when you want to customize your computer , as you want . And we provides an extensive range registry tips, tricks & tweaks for optimizing your computer. By editing Registry , You can change anything on your computer. But , editing the registry incorrectly , may cause system failure.


Change the Internet Explorer title

This setting allows you to edit Internet Explorer title and use your own window title.


1 . To open the registry editor ,

Start --> Run --> “regedit” (type) --> Ok

2 . Then find the key bellow

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

3 . Then Create a string value called “Window Title” ( right click --> New --> string value)









4 . Modify the existing value, to equal the title that you want appear in the IE title.

5 . I have set the value to “(your window title)” text. You can give a any name to it’s value.

6 . After Restarting your Internet Explorer , you will see your text in Internet Explorer title. As bellow.








Note - Delete the value of 'WindowTitle' to change the title back to the default title.
